"He (Jesus) said to them, 'Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a little while' "
Yup, you read that right! Jesus said those words because "there were many [people who were continually] coming and going, and they could not even find time to eat."
Mark 6:31 (AMP)
Sounds familiar right! With the hustle and bustle of the kids running around the house, keeping up with work or your business, home and getting ready for the new school year. Let's not forget the many thoughts traveling through our minds.
You've forgotten about the most important person in all this equation➡ YOU!
I am going to tell you what "The General," aka my mom, would constantly ask me, "How are you going to take care of everyone else,
if you can't take of yourself?"
To be very transparent with you. I've learned some very hard lessons (spiritually, mentally, and physically) because of my stubbornness and disobedience in not embracing the great importance of rest and relaxation. I am just like you. I am a mover and shaker and find it quite challenging to just do nothing knowing there are a million and one things on my to-do list. Sometimes I ask myself, "Do I even have time for some R&R?" Trust me; I understand your thought process.
However, I have also suffered significant repercussions because I have not taken the time to rest and relax. I have experienced a depletion of energy, lack of clarity in my thought process, being irritable, anxious and have reacted in not-so-kind ways to those around me.
Hence, why "The General" kept asking me the million-dollar question while I looked at my million and one to-do list. 🤦♀️
As we enter into this new season, add yourself to the top of your to-list. Follow Jesus lead and "come away by yourself to a secluded place (even if it's means 10-15 minutes hiding in the closet or bathroom) and rest a little while."
Even God rested from all His work (Genesis 2:2)! If God and His Son rested from Their work, we should not be surprised that we also need to rest. It's no coincidence that in the word restoration you find the word "rest". In our times of rest, God blesses and refreshes us for our times of service.
